Unlock your best swing with a body built for golf

Golf is a game of precision, timing, and efficiency. At our Lewisham Avenue clinic, we offer specialised TPI-informed physiotherapy to help golfers move well, play with confidence, and reduce the risk of injury. Whether you are a weekend player or preparing for competition, we tailor your assessment and treatment to your goals, your body, and your swing.

What is TPI?

The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world leader in understanding how the body influences the golf swing. For over twenty years, TPI has collected the world’s largest database of 3D swing mechanics, power profiles, strength measures, pressure mapping, and movement quality from both elite and everyday golfers.

Through this research, TPI established the Body-Swing Connection. This model shows how physical limitations influence swing patterns, shot performance, and injury risk. A well functioning body allows a golfer to swing efficiently, consistently, and with less strain. Limitations in mobility, strength, or control can create compensations that lead to pain or reduced performance.

Our TPI approach helps identify these limitations and build a plan to improve them.

What is golf Physiotherapy?

Golf physiotherapy focuses on understanding how your body moves during your swing and how your physical capacity influences injury risk and performance.

At Active Health Riverina, our golf physiotherapist Andrew Preston is TPI Certified Medical Level 2. Andrew has undergone extensive training in golf specific assessment, injury management, and performance enhancement.

Golf physiotherapy may include:

  • Assessment of your movement, strength, and flexibility
  • Injury diagnosis and treatment
  • Understanding how your physical profile influences your swing
  • Individualised strength, conditioning, and mobility programs
  • Collaboration with your coach if desired
  • Ongoing support through the phases of recovery and optimisation, aligned with our Active Tool Kit, AxIT and VALD technology, and our three phase Active Recovery Model

What Is a TPI golf assessment?

If you don’t assess, it’s just a guess

A TPI assessment gives you a clear picture of how your body contributes to your swing. It includes:

  • Review of swing mechanics and biomechanics
  • Golf specific physical screening
  • Assessment of fitness, movement quality, and strength
  • Discussion of health history and past injuries

The TPI movement screen is a simple test used worldwide to identify physical limitations linked to common swing characteristics. Once your screen is completed, your data guides a personalised plan that may include physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, swing technique coaching, or a combination of all.

Your assessment becomes the foundation for improving efficiency, reducing injury risk, and enhancing overall performance.

Who can benefit from a TPI golf assessment?

Players of all ages and abilities benefit from TPI. Common reasons include:

  • Golf related pain
  • Loss of distance
  • Reduced accuracy
  • Fatigue during a round
  • Difficulty achieving certain swing positions
  • Interest in performance optimisation
  • Returning to golf after injury or surgery

What can you achieve?

A TPI golf assessment can help you:

  • Understand the why behind pain or swing inconsistencies
  • Treat golf related injuries
  • Prevent future injury
  • Increase shot distance
  • Improve shot accuracy and consistency
  • Achieve more efficient swing mechanics
  • Build confidence and longevity in your game

Client experience

As a professional golfer, my schedule is incredibly demanding, and finding the right support team is crucial. I recently needed to see a physiotherapist urgently, the day before a big tournament. Active Health was fantastic in accommodating my tight schedule and getting me a priority appointment. I was particularly impressed to learn that they have a Titleist Performance Institute Medical Level 2 professional on staff. For any golfer looking for a clinic that understands the physical demands of golf, I highly recommend Active Health.”
