Andrew Preston
Director & Head of Talent Acquisition
Allied Health Lewisham Avenue
I'm thrilled to be back home in Wagga Wagga, the city that gave me so many amazing lifestyle and sporting opportunities growing up. After spending 17 years in Sydney and on the Gold Coast studying, learning, and developing my craft in physiotherapy and business, I returned in 2021 with the goal of delivering optimal healthcare back to the local community.
My 'why'
Ultimately, my dedication to physiotherapy stems from a commitment to delivering meaningful, long term change for my clients. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing someone not just recover from an injury, but exceed their previous physical limits and get back to doing the things they love, without fear of pain or recurrence.
As a dedicated musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience, I place a strong emphasis on finding the driver of your impairment. It’s not enough to treat the pain, we need to address the root cause to ensure your recovery is optimal and permanent.
What I love to treat
My practice is shaped by both my clinical experience and my personal journey as an athlete. The populations and injuries I most enjoy treating are:
- Active adults and weekend warriors: People who are highly motivated to return to their sport, hobby, or general fitness routine. I strive to keep you exercising in one way or another, even while you are recovering from your current injury.
- The Injured Golfer: My love for golf led me to achieve Level 2 certification with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). I specialise in conducting golf-specific screens to identify the physical limitations that are impacting your swing, causing pain, or reducing your power. I genuinely believe the TPI pathway is the most effective way to minimise injury, keep you playing for longer, and increase your performance - much more effective than buying a new driver!
- Complex knee injuries: After going through two ACL reconstructions and several other knee surgeries playing AFL and soccer, I'm in a unique position to understand not just the physiological, but also the crucial psychological barriers involved in returning to sport after a lengthy layoff. My focus is on delivering an optimum treatment pathway that prioritises a timely, safe, and effective return to high level performance.
My Background
My qualifications include a Master of Physiotherapy (Distinction) from Sydney University, built upon a strong foundation of a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Business. Before joining Active Health, I was a Director and managed an allied health team in a busy Sydney CBD clinic, where I was mentored by industry leaders and developed an invaluable depth of understanding.
Ultimately, my goal is to guide you through your recovery pathway so you can perform your chosen activities with confidence and not miss out on those important parts of your life.
Ready to get back to your best?
